Roblox players, this is a big one. Voice Chat is finally live on PlayStation, which means no more painfully typing with a controller while your friends on PC are already halfway through the obby. If you’ve been waiting for a faster, more natural way to talk while you play, this is it.
Honestly, this feels like one of those updates that will quietly change how people play Roblox. Typing is fine when you’re on PC, but on console it slows everything down. Being able to just talk to your team, yell out warnings, or laugh at a ridiculous moment makes games feel more alive.
How It Works
Here’s the deal: if a game already uses Roblox’s VoiceChatService, PlayStation players can turn on the feature in their privacy settings and start chatting right away. It also works cross-platform, so console players and PC players can finally be in the same voice chat. That alone will make group play way less frustrating.
There are a couple of steps before you can actually use it. You need to be 13 or older, and Roblox will ask you to verify your phone number or ID before you see the option to enable it. It’s a bit of a process, but it’s clear Roblox is serious about keeping this safe.
Safety and Moderation
Speaking of safety, Roblox says conversations can be recorded for moderation, players can block or report others, and there are plenty of parental controls if parents want to limit who their kids can talk to. And of course, you can mute yourself whenever you want sometimes you just don’t feel like talking, and that’s fair.
When It’s Coming To Xbox?
Xbox players, you’re not left out. Roblox says Voice Chat is coming to Xbox soon, just no exact date yet. So if you’re on Xbox, hang in there and you’ll be able to join the chaos soon enough.
I’m honestly curious how this will change some of the most popular games on Roblox. Imagine horror games where people can actually scream together, or roleplay servers that feel like live improv shows. It might even bring back that old-school feeling of hanging out in a game lobby just to talk.
